To take the pulse of current house building you need to do more than watch Grand Designs. Yes, steel and glass, especially in their latest and highly technical, incarnations, often grab the headlines but you really don’t have to look that hard to see that brick, stone, concrete and render are as vital and visible today as they have ever been.

The craftsmanship we apply to older and listed buildings is equally applicable to New Builds. The choice, for example, of brick type, mortar mix and pointing style is no less important for a new structure. And, of course, if the New Build is an extension, then its aesthetic success can only be ensured if the new element either contrasts or blends in sympathetically.

What is true of any new brickwork is also true for new render, stonework and even concrete.
