Colosseum Terrace
Colosseum Terrace lies off Regent’s Park and is one of those seemingly typical late Victorian and Edwardian mansion blocks that are common across central London. But we shoulsn’t let its familiarity diminish its impact. Like its fellows, Colosseum Terrace is beautifully designed and proportioned. It also has extensive mouldings. The central Roman portico gives the building its name and a restrained touch of neoclassicism while the skilfully chosen main buiding materials complement each other perfectly: Red Mansfield stonework; Portland stone window sills and brickwork in Soft Red Rubbers. But they were in desperate need of cleaning...
To clean the external stonework.
The front elevation was cleaned using the DOFF hot steam wash system. Next, all the defective moulding eas repaired using a premix Portland repair mix.This was then colour-toned to match the original Red Mansfield stonework.
Brick repairs were carried out using a four-part sand and one-part cement mix and were colour toned to match the original.
