The five-star Milestone Hotel overlooks Kensington Gardens. Originally built as a house in 1884 for John Freeman-Mitford, 1st Baron Redesdale, it was converted into a hotel in 1922 and combined with 2 Kensington Court.

To remove new render and repair the brick façade.
The hotel owner had decided to fully render the front and side elevations and paint the new render in brown – unfortunately without the required approval and was ordered to remove the new render and reinstate the original brick façade.

We hacked off the new render using only hand tools to avoid any unnecessary damage to the intricate brickwork that included moulded detailing to the window surrounds and the cornice and string courses on the various levels of the main elevations.
On completion of the removal work, each damaged brick had to be repaired using our brick repair mortar and matched to the original. Colour toning was then applied to match the surrounding bricks.
Next, all open and defective brick pointing was repointed
