Polesden Lacey

Polesden Lacey (and its attendant estate) is one of the National Trust’s most popular properties. The site, near Dorking in Surrey, has had a succession of houses on it with records going back to 1336. The current building was constructed in 1824 and extensively remodelled in 1906 when the Regency gave way to the Edwardian.

To replace defective render to all elevations and chimney stacks.

The defective render was cut back to the original brickwork. Three coats of Buckland sand/lime (using sand quarried locally) were applied, matching the original texture and colour.
Detailed stone window heads were replicated and fixed, again matching the exact detail of the original.

Polesden Lacey is important to Prelude Stone. It was one of the first heritage buildings on which we worked and winning two subsequent contracts there cemented our involvement with historical and listed stock.
